Teaching Music

1. Be sure the song teaches correct doctrine

2. Scriptures put to music are excellent.

3. Use songs that fit your age group. (older children do not like childish songs)

4. Use visualized hymns to help the children to learn good doctrine.

5. The one who leads the children should have a strong clear voice.

How to teach a non-visualized song.

1. I sing the song. (so that they hear the tune)

2. I say the words. (some tunes hide the words, and the children can learn the song incorrectly)

3. Children stand and sing it with me.

4. Children remain standing - I say the words again - picking out different children to see if they can give the next word.

5. Children standing - sing it with me once more.

The above steps should be used the first time you teach a new song. The second time you lead them in the song you may have to go over the words again so they will get the words right. By the third time they should know the words.
